FM-Approved Foam
Proportioners.
No Electricity.
No Calibration.
FireMiks water-driven volumetric pump proportioners deliver accurate, uninterrupted foam proportioning across a wide flow and pressure range — powered solely by the extinguishing water supply.
Proportioning built for
demanding environments
FireMiks proportioners are specified in industrial, sprinkler, marine, and offshore applications where reliability, compliance, and simplicity of operation are non-negotiable.
No External Power Required
Driven entirely by extinguishing water flow. No electricity, no engine, no PTO. Instant activation the moment water flow begins — with no latency and no control systems required.
FM 5130 Approved
All 18 models carry FM approval under FM 5130 (May 2021), Approval ID PR470904. FireMiks is classified as a Variable Viscosity Pump Proportioner — validating accurate dosing across a wide viscosity range.
Variable Viscosity — SFFF Ready
Accurately proportions concentrates from 1 cP to ~6,000 cP with no recalibration. Purpose-built for the transition from AFFF to fluorine-free (SFFF) concentrates with no system changes required.
Environmentally Responsible Testing
The optional Dosing Return Valve (DRV) allows full proportioning rate testing without discharging foam to the environment. Concentrate is pumped back to the tank — saving cost and avoiding cleanup.
Uninterrupted Operation
Concentrate tanks can be refilled or switched without interrupting water flow or firefighting. No time-limited bladder — as long as water and concentrate are available, the system continues.
Low Maintenance, High Reliability
No rubber bladder. No pressure balancing. No calibration cycles. The all-machined water motor design eliminates porosity and body leakage — with zero reported body failures in the field.
How FireMiks Works
A purely mechanical, water-powered proportioning system. No control panels. No pressure balancing. No calibration required after factory commissioning.
Water Flow Begins
The extinguishing water supply activates the system. The in-line water motor begins rotating immediately — powered only by the water passing through it.
Motor Drives the Pump
The volumetric water motor directly drives the concentrate dosing pump. The coupling ratio between motor and pump is fixed at the factory for the specified dosing rate (1% or 3%).
Accurate Dosing
The volumetric design ensures proportional dosing across the full approved flow and pressure range — automatically adjusting to flow changes without operator input.
Foam Solution Delivered
Foam concentrate is drawn from an atmospheric tank and accurately dosed into the extinguishing water. Gravity feed to the dosing pump eliminates priming complexity.
FireMiks vs Bladder Tank
For specifiers evaluating proportioning technologies, the differences between water-driven pump proportioners and pressure-vessel bladder tank systems are significant — particularly as SFFF concentrates become standard.
| Criterion | Bladder Tank | FireMiks |
|---|---|---|
| Operation | Time-limited — system must stop for bladder refilling | Continuous operation as long as water and concentrate are available |
| Calibration | Pressure balance system requires calibration; sensitive to change | No calibration required after factory commissioning |
| Pressure range | Typically 6–12 bar | 2–16 bar (piston pump); 2–12 bar (gear pump) |
| Viscosity handling | Calibrated for a specific concentrate viscosity; recalibration required on change | Variable Viscosity Pump Proportioner — handles 1 cP to ~6,000 cP without recalibration |
| SFFF / Fluorine-free foam | May require recalibration or system replacement for high-viscosity SFFF concentrates | Designed for SFFF transition — FM-approved for the full viscosity range |
| Testing | Typically requires concentrate discharge during proportioning rate verification | Optional DRV enables full dosing rate testing with zero concentrate discharge |
| Maintenance | Complex pressure vessel design; bladder sensitivity; costly refilling | Simple atmospheric concentrate tank; no bladder; minimal maintenance |
| Startup | Complex initial startup and commissioning process | Simple startup; instant proportioning activation on water flow |
